Free file tools that work on your device, not on someone else’s server.

NeverUpload is an independent set of file tools — converting images, turning them into PDFs and back, extracting tables from PDFs, merging, splitting, compressing and annotating documents, combining spreadsheets, removing backgrounds — built on one rule the name states outright: your files are never uploaded. Every operation runs in your browser, on your own device.

Why it exists

The tools people reach for are exactly the ones handling what they should be most careful with: identity documents, medical results, contracts, bank statements. The usual way to convert those is to hand a copy to a server you know nothing about. We think a task this ordinary should not require an account, a subscription, a software install, or that trade.

How it works

Modern browsers can do far more than display pages. The tools here use that: PDFs are read and written with PDF.js and pdf-lib, the same open-source engines used by major browsers and applications; images are processed on a canvas element; spreadsheets are assembled in memory. Once a page has loaded, most tools keep working even if you disconnect from the internet — the simplest proof that nothing is being sent.
